spring declutter

it's
and you know what that means?

we are cleaning house, folks!

now i don't mean scrubbing the toilets...although that gets done too.
this has been a BIG year for letting go of stuff
and this weekend was no exception!

yesterday we cleaned out our basement and
listed some big stuff of craigslist.
i can't tell you how excited i am that we are selling our TV, DVD/VCR
and a few other space-hoggers!
you know, those things that take up so much
physical and emotional space?
some of it has gone, some has not, but soon it will all be gone
(donated if not sold) - hallelujah!

i find it is extremely freeing to let go.
it has me looking around trying to find more stuff to part with.
even the kids have gotten in the spirit of "de-stuff-ing".
it's a beautiful thing.

book of the day: Organized Simplicity by Tsh Oxenreider
challenging, yet simple.  this book is encouraging
and full of ideas on how to live a clutter-free and simple life.
find out more on her website.

*postscript*
one of the best things about simplicity is that it opens up space.
space can be filled with whatever the imagination can create.
here's what the kids were up to this morning while i was cleaning house.

the little lego guy is "hopsky"

it does a mama's heart good.

  1. I would LOVE to get rid of TV. Don't think that will ever happen here, but I'm working on less TV with the kids.

  2. Inspire me PLEASE! We are also in the process of attempting to declutter . . . a difficult thing for a pack rat like me. But I do agree it is a freeing experience and it is getting easier. Persistence is the key!

  3. We did not get rid of the tv- just our satellite coverage (it is a huge set for us!) but we have so much stuff and are trying to slowly declutter. New follower from Tuesdays Blog Trail.

  4. I LOVE Organized Simplicity! It's such an amazing book! Have you read Clutter Rehab by Laura Wittmann? She is the author of I'm An Organizing Junkie (http://orgjunkie.com), which is my number one inspirational blog. That's how I got started meal planning. You should check it out! Love you, sis :-*
